Alen Bringleson, project manager with GM BluePlan Engineering Ltd., provided a presentation to review each of the Municipality of West Grey's landfill sites, including:
- Landfill capacities
- Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) review
- Capping and closure plans
- Transfer station discussion
- Landfill future needs discussion
Mr. Bringleson noted that in order for a landfill site to act as a transfer station, approval from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) is required. A site plan, basic operational plan, and collection bin documentation would need to be included in the application. MECP approval could take three to six months.
Mr. Bringleson confirmed that annual monitoring costs have not increased and annual topography survey costs are included in the annual monitoring costs.
Discussion included diverting goods by establishing a re-use drop off area and diverting organic waste by establishing a licensed compost site.
Mayor Robinson thanked Mr. Bringleson for his presentation.
