Mayor Robinson called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.

Staff reviewed instructions for members of the public to participate via Zoom, telephone, and how to contact staff for assistance if disconnected. It was noted that this meeting will be livestreamed to the WestGrey YouTube channel.

Mayor Robinson called for a moment of reflection.

Councillor Townsend noted that the Traffic Safety Working Group recently met and will be bringing forward a recommendation regarding the group's service moving forward.

Councillor Hergert recognized the volunteer firefighters, thanking them for their years of service.

Councillor Shea noted that the police service board survey is open until the end of September. The survey is online and available by hard copy at the municipal office and West Grey Library.

Councillor Townsend inquired about the Durham landfill hours not being changed as of yet. Clerk Scharback noted that a special meeting of council for October 5, 2021 is being proposed to address all landfill matters.

Mayor Robinson noted that the West Grey firefighters service awards will take place on October 4, 2021.

    That the council of the Municipality of West Grey hereby supports the request of the Ontario Coalition of Better Child Care and CUPE Ontario to proclaim October 21, 2021 to be Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day in the Municipality of West Grey; and

    That this proclamation be posted on the municipal website, shared on social media and forwarded to the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care.

    That the Council of the Municipality of West Grey hereby supports the resolution of the City of Woodstock dated July 15, 2021 wherein they call upon the Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, to bring together the Ministry of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Health, The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to immediately work together of both short and long term solutions, complete with funding, to take proper responsibility and action to address the affordable housing, homelessness and addictions crisis; and

    that this resolution of support be circulated to the Honourable Bill Walker, Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP and AMO.

Councillor Townsend noted his appreciation of being elected to the Community Schools Alliance Board.

Councillor Shea note he will be attending the Georgian bay Social Institute, which is comprised of councillors from seven municipalities. He also noted he will be meeting with the inspector general from the Solicitor General's office regarding policing.
